Eind 1970 was er een eerste discussie over het “verlaten van de kerk”door EPT

In 1971 hadden we niet minder dan 23 optredens !!! Merendeels tijdens kerkdiensten in Someren, Helmond( leonardus parochie). Gerwen, Geldrop, Bakel en Mierlo. We deden mee met een jongerenkorenfestival in Tilburg, met lovende woorden van de jury. We verzorgden al enkele concerten o.a. op het Wolfsen ! We hadden namelijk besloten om niet meer elke zondagochtend in de mierlose kerk de dienst te verzorgen, maar slechts 2 keer per 3 weken, zodat we onze vleugels ook konden uitspreiden naar andere richtingen.
De gospelmissen werden steeds grotere successen: De kerk puilde uit. Het orkest kreeg wat duidelijkere vormen: Willy Dreverman en Wiljan van Vlerken kregen assistentie van Gerard de Vries op bongo’s en een zeker Ge van Gerven , die nog nooit gitaar had gespeeld , wilde wel bassist worden…dat hebben we geweten (in alleen maar positieve zin zoals velen hebben ervaren !!).
Bij de start van zo’n speciale dienst kwam het koor van achter in de kerk naar voren via de gangpaden, swingend en klappend en zingend… De sfeer zat er meteen in bij de honderden aanwezigen. Om niet te vergeten… Kapelaan Jansen kon dan ook altijd een prachtige preek á vue presenteren vol passie en in de zin van de Amerikaanse gospeldiensten.
Kattenkwaad werd er ook uitgehaald: Gé reed een Messerschmidje (zo’n 3 wielerig één- persoonsautootje).. Nou dat werd door Jo Gruithuizen , Wim Dreverman en Jan Beks vakkundig en vooral handmatig op een andere plaats gezet dan Ge hem geplaatst had… dat vond hij toen niet zo leuk…
We verhuisden wat betreft repetitieruimte naar het zaaltje bij cafetaria Henk van der Vleuten in de dorpstraat. En Ruud zag zijn latere ega zich aanmelden als lid van EPT…
Dat werd een grandioos succes… bedoeld is het verhuizen naar Henk van de Vleuten’s cafetaria (het andere ook wel overigens…). Daar werd na de repetitie vaker getoept om frikadellen: Willy Knoops zou bij de winst van een potje toepen van iedereen een frikadel eten. Hij at er wel een stuk of zeven..
Gerrie Damen nam vaker 2 bamischijven mee voor de hond… dan was die stil als ze laat thuis kwam en zouden ouders niet wakker worden. Ze bleef met die bamischuiven dan toch vaak hangen bij de deur..want ze kon nooit wegkomen..vond het té gezellig: Potverdrie nou zin mij bamischuiven alweer veel te koud…Tot 3 x toe werden eens die bamischuiven door Henk van der Vleuten opgewarmd !!
